Honouring The Word Warriors

There will be a wonderful celebration of strong, bold literary creativity coming up at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, on May 30th, at 7:00pm. This event is free. Listen to 11 award-winning Indigenous writers from across Canada, present short pieces, moderated by two of Katarakwi’s own, Queen’s National Scholar of Indigenous Literary Arts Marshall Hill and Queen’s English PhD candidate Tina Munroe.
Readers include Jeannette Armstrong, Nicola Campbell, Marilyn Dumont, Louise Halfe, Tomson Highway, Liz Howard, Conor Kerr, Emily Riddle, Armand Garnet Ruffo, Drew Hayden Taylor, and Joshua Whitehead. A welcome and land acknowledgement will be conducted by Chancellor Shelagh Rogers.


GATHERING: Honouring the Word Warriors
If this event is of keen interest to you, there is a more extensive Gathering taking place at the Tett Centre, on the Saturday and Sunday. Come together with these award-winning Indigenous authors for a weekend gathering honouring Indigenous Word Warriors. The event includes interviews, a theatre reading, a roundtable, readings and meals.

Cost is $25 for students & Indigenous community members, $50 for non-tenured faculty and salaried individuals, $150 for tenured faculty members. Space is limited–register HERE.
